Truffle Oil

Your lips and words
So smooth
Like a purée
Blended up and neatly placed on the tongue
To indulge
And enhance each taste bud
With flavor
With your flavor
A savory whisper
Followed by truffle oil
Encased with a garnish
That is the smirk you leave me with at the end of each sentence.
And glazed like butter on toast
Traveling a thousand miles into a memory
Lush with food and drink
Over a bar lacquered with a chocolate brown wooden stain.
With arms rested and sips from intoxication
Passing glances when the other isn't aware but aware, always.

Nothing bitter to follow
After each sweetly satisfying moment
Catapults me to the forefront
Of something grown organically
Mutually
and somewhat sensitively.
Like that charcoal burn
On the vegetables
And the caramelized pearls of your eyes
That navigate me like the toss of garlic in a frying pan.

"It's your mango I sip,"
Those truffles have me tumbling
Down neatly plated dishes
And you at the other end of the table.
