Cusp of Magic

When the sun sets on the city,
It doesn't set on my soul.
Dreams and imagination escaping from chains.
When the sun sets on the city,
It ignites the fire in my eyes.

My heart, wingless.
My heart, sealed with gold.
Restored.

When the sun sets on the city,
All fortunes set are told.
Embracing hands
And folding,
And growing,
And loving
All infinitely.

This heart
Course and dark
Where tyrants run amuck
Digging trenches and storm drains for monsters to hide in.
Where contentedness stood no chance,
But oceans ran like fire,
Spread across plains and dead forests,
Crossed deserts and islands that had never been ached by water,
That had never been dissolved.
Mountains and gardens blossomed in the distances.
Escaping the grip that seemed all too familiar
For a familiar and unfamiliar face lost deep in the confines of someone else's mind.
Where they considered thoughts of transparent living
Where family created much love and only love.

Engulfed in a sense of assertiveness and ambition the time rose
Roses seemed rosier,
And fuller,
And redder,
And alive.

The best part of life today was feeling alive and reflecting of nostalgia when
When ten was the big ten
And the excitement was running through my body,
and speeding,
and floating,
and exposing the depths of childhood that had long been gone,
and erupted into a thousand new islands that had solidified and sanded over.

And their words danced
and connected
and intertwined
and elongated like chewing gum.
A connection
like confectionary sugar placed on the lips and tongue
like snowflakes in a winter storm.

And in the chill of tomorrow's afterglow
In the mountains, dewed and glistening
And the chime of nightingales and the sound of nothing.
Nothing ordinary, but all the ordinary
The cars and the wind and the street and the footsteps and the breaths taken.
And the silence
Creates a silence that only we can explain.
Where it vibrates in every bone and cell and atom deep within.
Like electrical currents.
You have been ignited.
And it's been felt.
And it's relatively calmer than others.
It's lower than the atmosphere which almost makes it feel like earth.

And the water washes out
Crashes against the shore
Eclipsing over darkness.
What was dark now feels pure.
